Zack East
Hi! I'm Zack. I've been with the Coast since around 2004, when I worked weekends fairly regularly, keeping you company on Saturdays usually. Now I'm all grown up! Sort of.
I have tons of radio experience in different forms like Rock and Country, but I LOVE pop music from the 80s. I'm a huge geek when it comes to Prince, Madonna and the 80s glam and hair rockers. Who's the best 80s artist? Hmm. Let's debate that sometime. Anyway, I've worked in radio for over 10 years in both College and here in Michigan's Great Southwest. I've also done some stints as an arts and entertainment correspondent for the Sunday Papers radio show on WGN Radio, and in Big Rapids at stations WYBR (Y-102), WWBR (Big Country 100.9) and WBRN-AM. In September of 2010, I ended a nearly 7 year run as an air personality on our sister station, Rock 107 WIRX. I served as Program Director of WIRX prior to taking over my work here on the Coast.
I am originally from Three Oaks, spent some time living in Lakeside and Big Rapids, and in 2009 I moved to St. Joseph! I graduated from River Valley High School and have a BA in Communication from Ferris State University. I also love working with the Venetian Festival, emceeing and broadcasting at Blossomtime events, and I occasionally try my hand at my first love - arena announcing for basketball games.
I have a love for technology, the water (I feel lost living inland...) and a few sports. Phil and I seem to be the only Notre Dame fans in the building, and that's hard to handle sometimes! I love watching college football and basketball, and college and pro hockey. And my favorite guilty pleasures, which I will do anything for, are coffee and Coca-Cola.
In my free time, I like to figure out how I got that free time in the first place and how to duplicate it.
